Longcroft Estate, Rampant Horse Pub

It was a cold January evening but the fire in the Rampant Horse was roaring and the jukebox was pumping out Free Bird by Skynrd — the most played track. All may not be well with the world at large but in this little corner things were perfect. Dave and Vinny were sat at their usual table where the discussion was lively, as always.

“So Vinny what do you think about Nadhim Zahawi and this tax debacle?”
Dave sipped his pint.
“Well mate, he’s claiming it was carless not deliberate.”
Vinny sipped his pint.
“I think I’d better check down the back of the sofa in case I’ve carelessly dropped a couple of hundred grand.”
“I take your point. No one is careless with that amount of money.”
“I believe it was Lord Acton who said power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
“I’m sure Dave that you’d not accuse the overly litigious Mr. Zahawi of any wrong doing.”
“Of course not mate. It’s just a favourite quote of mine.”
Dave winked at Vinny.
Vinny grinned at Dave.
“The most important thing is that I have enough money for the next round.”
“Amen to that.”
