Longcroft Estate, Rampant Horse Pub.

As January draws to a close the rag tag inhabitants of the Rampant Horse are breathing a little sigh of relief as it seems the worst of winter is over and spring is visible just over the horizon. Oh, and the walk to the pub is not quite so bloody cold.

Scrapps looked up lovingly into Old Pete’s eyes.

“Bugger off you little sod you’re not having any of my pork pie.”

The little dog sat back down and put head on paws in the best impression of depression he could muster.

Lisa Posh-name was in her corner table drinking a black and tan…she was pondering mystical things that the likes of Dave and Vinny, bless their simple hearts, would never understand. The two boys were, as always, having a chat at their favourite table.

“It’s a funny thing is friendship Vinny.”

Vinny pondered this as he sipped his pint.

“Funny how?”

Dave sipped his own pint.

“Well it’s a little bit like geography.”

Vinny looked mystified. More than usual.

“How so?”

“Well, there are the easy foot hills and there is dangerous terrain.”

“Ah, you’d be talking about politics and such.”

“Exactly. These things can trip up a friendship.”

“Luckily we’re alike in our opinions on such matters.”

“True enough. But I’d steer clear of discussing politics with Old Pete.”

“Yes, older generations with different life experiences can find their thoughts lead them to different conclusions.”

“Aye, also he’s a cantankerous old bugger that loves to stir the pot.”

“I heard that.” Said Old Pete through a mouthful of pork pie.
